Word Count Data
I've decided to graph the total amount of words I've written for this website!

Isn't that so cool?
Each dot represents the total words on the website after one post. I'll probably change it to have flat lines extending from each dot eventually, I just couldn't be bothered to figure out how to trick Pyplot into doing that.
Note that the first posts go back into January even though the site wasn't created until May 6th, 2023. This is because I decided to include the short stories I wrote in 2023 before then, as I put them on the website pretty soon after creating it. All the posts for my games are backdated to its original release date. Any from before 2023 are not included in this graph, but only probably add up to 500 words collectively.
As the "main" pages get regular small updates, I formally list their dates as whenever the site was last updated. This is reflected in them always being in the most recent position of the graph. Again, their word count is insignificant, so I am not bothered.
One goal for 2024 is to write 200,000 total words. Very achievable if you look at the previous graph. Here's one I made to show me how I'm doing:

Visitation Data
So, Neocities reports visitation data for all its websites. You can view mine here. You may note a few things, like that it only goes back a week. You could pay Neocities for the full dataset. But! They expose the current total view and hit counts via the API. So I wrote a script to download them once a day, and store the results.
Thus! Graphs:

Couple of things to note. Firstly, this visitation data is like, weirdly high? Like I very much doubt I'm actually gathering
thousands of views a day (you'd think there would be more comments). That's probably mostly bot traffic (so much for having a strong robots.txt
file).
If you're reading this, drop a comment down below (or one whatever page you landed on)! Maybe we can get a real counter going?
I guess probably the next step is to bake something with javascript. Seems like work.
I don't have the data prior to December 15th because like, that's when I started collecting it. Oh well. Since I'm storing it all now, this should get more interesting the longer the site stays up. I love leaving little automated presents for myself (that's why I love Mastodon bots so much)
I think that's everything I want to say about this for the moment! Have a lovely day.
